    Morôni Research Beginings-

    Friday, August 8, 2008, 08:30 PM [General]

In my quest to understand Moroni and who he is and how i understand that within my own religious context these are some of the things that i have -

    • Prophet
    • Historian
    • Survivor
    • Warrior
    • Military Leader
    • Witness
    • Watcher
    • Guardian

These are just a list of some of the common threads that im finding out about Moroni-

On the lines of Prophet i can't help but think of the Camena-were associated with springs and groves and also they were wise, and sometimes gave prophecies of the future......survivor, he was the last of his race-nephites-Military leader-he was a commander in the last battle on Cumorah-Guardian and Watcher-he guarded and watched over the plates which held the history of his people and their trials and tribulations.

I mean that is all i have at the moment-I am also rereading the first have of the BoM inorder to understand his place-which really if you think about it Moroni is the son of Mormon whom is decended from the House of Lehi, complicated i know let me tell you-Since alot of the text that im looking trhough are doctrinal and some are not but that is what i have so far-

    The Feast of Trumpets

"....Note that the angel has the gospel to preach, even as the angel
Moroni atop temples is sometimes depicted holding the plates, but what he is heralding with the trump is that "the hour of his judgment is come." The purpose of spreading the restored gospel is not just to fill in some details of which have been lost, but to warn of imminent judgments and to call upon all to fear and worship God. Note the Lord's consistent usage of this symbolism of the trump:......"

    "...2.1.5 The Fifth Angel: Phanuel
The Lord tells us much more about the fifth angel, without actually naming him. After the first four sound their trumps for the four resurrections, the fifth angel sounds, announcing that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall give glory to him who sitteth upon the throne. That clearly shows that this angel is working with everyone, including members of all the first four groups. We are given the clue that this is the angel who spreads the gospel to all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people (D&C 88:103). Which of the seven has done more to spread the gospel to the world than any of the others? The Book of Enoch states that Phanuel is the angel with the special assignment of the hope of all who would inherit eternal life (Enoch 40:9). It seems clearly to refer to the Prophet Joseph Smith who has "done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in the world, than any other man" (D&C 135:3). Thus it is proposed the Prophet Joseph Smith, Phanuel, is the fifth angel who presided over the fifth millennium during which both Jesus Christ and Peter lived.[11]

Of course, Joseph Smith is not the only angel who flys through the midst of heaven proclaiming the gospel. In 1831 the Lord declared that he had already sent an "angel flying through the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel, who hath appeared unto some and hath committed it unto man" (D&C 133:36). That angel most likely refers to the
Moroni, who is depicted on temples with the trump. But as the scripture stated, he committed the gospel to Joseph Smith, along with the keys of the record of the stick of Ephraim (D&C 27:5). It is proposed that after Joseph Smith received all the keys of dispensing the gospel (D&C 110:12), that he himself would later preside in this role of Phanuel, to spread the gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people....."

    Who Is Moroni?!

    Friday, August 8, 2008, 08:29 PM [General]

    Who was Moroni?

Descriptions of the angel Moroni vary. In one of Joseph Smith's histories, he said "He had on a loose robe of most exquisite whiteness. It was a whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen.… His hands were naked and his arms also a little above the wrists.… Not only was his robe exceedingly white but his whole person was glorious beyond description" (Smith 1838)....

Moroni, according to the Book of Mormon, was the last Nephite prophet and military commander who lived in North America in the late fourth and early fifth centuries.

But what if this angel, prophet, historian was in fact a nature divinity of the Hill Cumorah?

This is what I would like to explore, this pagan aspect of this being.

    Here I Am...

    Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 09:27 PM [General]

Well, I found this place, and hopefully it will be an interesting experience-

Who am i? Well for the most part-I consider myself to be a Greco Roman Polytheist-perhaps even a Hellenized Roman Polytheist-or Olympianist- I honour and hold dear the Olympians and honour the gods of greece and rome- Now to just explain alil bit-I see the Greek and Roman Olympians as the same gods, just understood differently based on the two cultures that worshiped them. While yes some say well there is a difference-I say those are cultural differences but something i take into account-

Now in worship style-im very very informal-for some odd reason-i have always been an informal kinda guy-perhaps one of my charms? So my approach is just that informal, highly respectful-

The purpose of this blog-not sure yet-perhaps discuss religious views, research things that i believe will help me further my religious adventure!
